ABOUT BETH

Picture
Beth Bongar has been creating highly original entertainment for events in the New York City area for over thirty years, as founder and owner of B.Outrageous. She is well known for her talent, originality, and contagious humor.

In the late 1990's, Beth got the idea of adapting the ancient Chinese art of face reading to create a new form of entertainment called lipstick reading, originally for one of Revlon's charity events. It was an instant hit. Through lipstick reading (and other related arts) Beth is able to channel her uncanny ability to connect with people and delight them with shockingly accurate insights into themselves.

Beth is recognized throughout the entertainment industry as the inventor of lipstick reading, and Lipstick Readings by Beth continue to delight and entertain guests at events ranging from milestone celebrations to corporate special events and fundraisers. Lipstick readings are also available for private and small group readings online via Skype.

LIPSTICK READING by BETH in the news....

"We had our fortunes told by Beth and she was shockingly accurate" (NBC TODAY)
"Kiss prints can change based on our energy levels, emotions, and what's going on in our life" (POPSUGAR BEAUTY)

WHY DO I READ LIP PRINTS?

The simplest answer is that I love to connect with people. Reading faces and reading lip prints is all about connecting directly with people and sharing insights in a highly personal way, for just a moment. A real moment, not a digital flyby. In such moments we are open, and so our true characteristics can be surfaced as a map with universal reference points. These in turn help us connect and learn something meaningful about ourselves and how we navigate in the world of others.

I learned to connect with people in this way from my grandmother. She taught me Chinese face reading and how to read Tarot - forms of timeless knowledge through which I have always loved to connect, with people of all ages.

Lipstick culture was how I connected as a young woman with my mother, four sisters (we were named after the four main characters in Little Women), and dozens of girl friends. Those were the days! Audrey Hepburn had set style standards for my mother, and she passed them on to us. Lipstick draws attention to the lips and makes them stand out, and the purpose for wearing it remains the same since it was first invented in 1884: to express inner beauty with outer self, to announce our uniqueness and persona, and to draw attention to whichever expressions of our best self we choose to put forward into the world.

So I love lipstick (and makeup), and I love lipstick collaborations - refining the expression of personas, of all genders. After all, when my son was born, he looked up and saw his mommy and daddy in makeup (I was a professional clown in the circus for 20 years). A few years later he was on stage with us in lipstick and makeup too!

Ultimately, I ended up blending the arts my grandmother passed on to me with my mother's sense of (lipstick) style and years of intimate sisterhood into a new art form. I can actually look at your glorious lip prints on a piece of paper - after you give it a kiss wearing your favorite shade of red, coral, pink, or nude - and take a peek into your present, past, or future.
